Le chaos Ordinaire

Mr Fred aka La Foudre releases the wrath of Zeus in a double CD album Le Chaos Ordinaire out on the Notek Label. Breathtaking, chaotic, dive in the heart of a thunderstorm sound, this music is moving at lightning speed, or how to overcome the limitations of speedcore, combining technology and creativity, there is the matter with the interested!

Who is La Foudre (The Thunder) ? Can you give us your musical career ? Your first musical love and your electronics guidance?

Aie ! You start badly ! born in 1970... it's not my thing CVs... I'm just a guy torned between two passions, first the sound and his technics, second the music... I've already made few times the yoyo between both, and it's hard to find the balance. What is cruel, it's when your job is eating your passion, and even worse, if you love your job too. A kind of triangular love, I am an African king who can not decide between 2 lovers... because of my status, I have the luxury of taking the time to decide... I always thought...

The career : uh... it starts with a 3 stringed guitar, a snaredrum, a wooden kick and never stopped, addicted to sound, to creation... In 1994, meeting with Explore-Toi (Neurobug and Mobile Base), first live duet with Ryl in 1993 with Willyman member of the Nomades Sound-System... and professionally long periods of travel throught different styles (from zouk to speedcore) as sound assistant, then as sound engineer in studio.

The instrument that I have practiced the most is a bass guitar, I could became very good at one moment, but electronic music quilcky catched me, be the conductor of his laptop is something great !I grew up and lived in Bagneux aka «The city of the barbarians» 92 Represent !!! Small chamber in a flat, Need of strong escape... Techno in your face !!! winter 1990, boom ... It was a good pleasure to hear it in headphones, but we were alone. For my part, since that day... It's long 19 years, I stop here..

.

My first love: Trust, AC/DC, Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five, Afrika Banbatta, Dead Can Dance, Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Clash, Alpha Blondy & The Wailers, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke ; ... too long to tell !!! Just one for the end, Cream….so good…rock spyké Seventies, include a big generation...

Electronically, I stopped at a few boundaries, may be the house that I put off.

But otherwise, I have respect for a beautiful crust, if it is bloody...

The Technical aspect is very important in Electro, and I know from experience that even for "this crust, it takes knowledge and time...

We talk too rarely about it, but often, the real makers of «Crusts Hits» are in the shadow of a Guetta or another and spend their life passion to understand the workings of a Hit... You don't create a «Britney Spears» just like that during the breakfast...

Those people stay very late in studios ... that's them who are the real killers, the others it's just bling bling for the showcase...

So, why hardcore ? .

Initially, by naively utopia, because we believed we had finally found a free land open to all, which allows to express a difference..at least, and then to defend this idea, given that apparently human beings always repond with bad intentions to come to an idea rotten started.

This project is a part of this physical reaction, we set small stones responsible for messages.

The hardcore is meant much more than just the rich frenchcore regurgitation, that's enough...

______________How was born the Genesis of Chaos Ordinaire ? Which guidlines you have given for this album ?

Well, hum… it's not the kind of things you decide in one morning, it came slowly, firstly by some friends advices (Ptikai, GG, Mato) who believe into it, and said «go on ! make some noise !» and then the life that pushes you to come out of stuff probably too hard to express with words.

An urgent needed like that, 2008 was a year of compsition for me and it is very rare... I had the chance to enjoy it

Guideline:
Already the 2 CDs are very different... The project started on 1 cd in the winter and summer 2008, the idea of the 2nd came after with a lot of tracks release with les "Zamour».

"Le Chaos Ordinaire" is like a slice of life, I almost found the tracks in the same order as on the cd, is what I hope is a thread listening to a story that I lived myself.

«les alliances protozoaires a incidences procréatives» That's the magic of paths, the chance to share
Each meeting is different. It creates a bug of not correctly provided, not as it should be is good !

The striking of the first listening, it's the sound emit, what were your tools and your arms to compose this "non-ordinary" music ?

Thank you for the compliment, as for the mixing and mastering I have a leader who takes care of my music with passion. (Ryl) Notek studio. He puts all that clean. The tools : I'm using Nuendo since v1.01, I love that soft because it sounds good but also because its tools have been designed primarily for Midi, rather than a Protools, which comes from the world of audio editing... roughly its faster for me to sequence sound on Nuendo than on other apps... After I would say that for this 1st album, I took the time and I wanted it to be nice, well put together, the ultimate weapon is the time we need...

We feel in your music a particulary love for cinema, is it your main source of inspiration ?

I think that is more political than that, it's how I see things. Hollywood is a huge industry that generates tons of dvd at 2 euros, films which doesn't work anymore, which are forgotten. Re-use and give them a second life is fairly nice to my taste. Then it is also a quest, sometimes you can stay 2 years without a good soundtrack, with little text, with a superb sound design and even better, a soundtrack of the movie.
It is this notion of recycling that is important, with a few well chosen plugs you can quickly return a sample. It's very fun. You must listen everything. when I really search, I watch films without looking at the screen, I listen just. It's much sharper in this way.

Tell us about your collaborations, musicians and designers, this was a wish that you had from the outset to share your feelings with other artists?

I have always worked together. And even for this "solo" album I was forced to invite artists who are close to me, which I want. We have always promised ourself with Neuro Ryl to open our project to others, it's a continuation of this idea. As for collaboration side, it was every time a major encounters, almost ideal, sharing as I say above, I want to say fuckingoodwords about all the artists of the project. They are all human and fuckin authentics artists . Till Arcane the workshop that has managed the cover, all are real artists .. it's a fuckin chance to have them.

In everyday life we are in chaos... but the music isn't an escape?

Clearly yes. Just take the subway today, and count the number of people who have headphones on ears. It's crazy... each one creates its own bubble to escape of this fuckin stressful chaos. More than a loophole, for myself, music saved me once or twice already and it becomes almost a guardian angel who keeps my head above water. It's beautiful how music can transport emotions, moments engraved on recycled oil.

This will be soon 20 years that you knock to the "hardcores", what is your feeling ?

Do you think we've explored all its depths?

What do you think about the future of its sound waves?

Hey hey, yes, I think as we have developers who create new plugs, so this music will have the opportunity to evolve. They are the creators first, we, we are users of hard or software.
Besides, I do not think they want us to turn to nostalgia, but rather to the future.
I'm sure that musical friends as "La Peste" will agree with me ..
In fact it is boiling of creation and the establishment is not selling.
but that's okay, that's always been like that, I think.
What matters is that we can share.
You know, hardcore is a deep sense of always,
There were Iron Maiden and Europe did "the final count down
There were Dead Kennedy's and did zigue zigue sputnik
There were the Stray Cats and did the Forbans
There were Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five and did Benny Bee
And so, and again and again.
I think there will always be a fall against it. I remain hopeful.

And finally the killer question, which you couldn't escape: What are your future projects?

Well... we preparing disks, invitations too
I didn't like too much talk about all this ..:-p
The destruction-3, which arrived ,trip 02, no-tek vynils still in
The other I didn't know if I have the right to speak, it's difficult ...)
This month released the no-tek 20 vynil version co-produced with Tri-p record.
That's good news !!...
There is also Urethra records which coming soon (big up) this, I think I have the right to say
At the moment it's web site with stights, we redesign the no-tek site
That's for September...
Hope that 2010 is teeming...

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer these questions!
